Internet users across the country may experience slower speeds for 12 hours until 6pm on Saturday due to maintenance work on the Sea-Me-We-4 submarine cable.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) announced in a press release on Friday (12 July) that the maintenance work would cause interruptions to continuous internet service from 6am to 6pm on Saturday (13 July).

The maintenance is being conducted by the consortium at the Singapore end of the Sea-Me-We-4 system, resulting in partial shutdowns of the circuits connected via this cable for approximately 12 hours, the release added.

BSCCL apologised for any inconvenience this temporary issue may cause.

However, circuits connected via the country's second submarine cable (Sea-Me-We-5) located in Kuakata will continue to operate as usual.
