Three people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents in Jassore’s Bagherpara upazila on Friday (12 July).
The deceased are Mohammad Siddique Sheikh, (50), son of Shukur Sheikh of South Srirampur village of the upazila; Sabuj Hossain, (42), son of Shobed Ali of Rajabari village of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh district; and Tarek Sardar, (35), son of Babu Sardar of Baga village under Keshabpur upazila of Jashore district.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Tularampur Highway Police Station Mritunjoy Biswas said the accident occurred in the area when a Jashore-bound truck hit five people on the side of Jashore-Narail road and the truck fell into the road side ditch in Dakshin Srirampur area around 7:30am, leaving Mohammad Siddique Sheikh dead on the spot and four others injured.
The injured were taken to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital, he added.
The OC also said Sabuj Hossain died on the spot when two pickups collided head-on in Karimpur area of the upazila on Jashore-Narail road around 11:30 am and five others were injured.
The injured four were rushed to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital, he said.
Another two injured were taken to Narail Sadar Hospital, where Tarek Sardar died while undergoing treatment, the OC added.
The bodies were handed over to their respective family members.
