Cox's Bazar has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall for the past week, putting the Rohingya camps at risk of landslides. It has been reported that some hilly areas of Cox's Bazar, apart from the Rohingya camps, are also at risk.

Earlier, on 19 June, 10 people were killed in separate landslides at Rohingya camps in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar.

Approximately 1.2 million Rohingyas, most of whom fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar in 2017 to escape brutal persecution by the military junta, reside in 33 camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.

Many of them live in hilly areas prone to landslides.
