Bangladeshi killed by BSF gunfire in Lalmonirhat

A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Lohakuchi border in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat.

The incident took place early on Wednesday (26 June) near border pillar number 919 in Lohakuchi village under Gorol union of the upazila.

A group of 4-5 Bangladeshi cattle traders entered India through Lohakuchi border late at night, according to sources from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). BSF members opened fire on them, leaving Nurul Islam, 60, son of late Moinuddin of Lohakuchi village, dead.

Lieutenant Colonel Mofazzal Hossain Akand, commander of the 15th BGB in Lalmonirhat, confirmed the incident, saying that a flag meeting has been called to address the matter.
