BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Tuesday Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina deprived Bangladesh by giving unilateral benefits to India.

“Due to the foreign policy of the illegal Awami League government, Bangladesh's interests are being compromised. Instead of securing a Teesta River water-sharing agreement, they have given unilateral benefits to India," said Fakhrul, adding that the BNP rejects the ill-conceived agreements signed with India during the prime minister's visit to the neighbouring country.

The BNP secretary general made the remarks at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan, Dhaka.

He said, "Sheikh Hasina's visit has failed to secure Bangladesh's interests."

Regarding the health of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, he said, “Khaleda Zia's health has severely deteriorated. She has been imprisoned out of political vendetta and with a deliberate intention. The main goal of the Awami League government is to keep Begum Zia away from politics.”
