Anwar Hossain attempted to illegally enter India in the morning. At that time, BSF members fired at him, resulting in his death from gunshot wounds.

A man named Anwar Hossain, 50, was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Burichong border in Cumilla. 

The incident occurred at 8 am on Sunday (9 June) in the Jamtala border area of Bakshimul union.

Anwar Hossain was the son of the late Charu Mia from Mirpur village in the same union.

Sources at the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police said Anwar Hossain used to worked as a labourer carrying smuggled sugar from India.

AM Jaber Bin Jabbar, commander of the 60th BGB, confirmed the incident, saying that Anwar Hossain attempted to illegally enter India in the morning. At that time, BSF members fired at him, resulting in his death from gunshot wounds.

He said efforts are ongoing to discuss the matter with the BSF.
