The government will commence the sale of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) products through permanent stalls starting from July 1, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Haque said Titu on Tuesday (May 7).

"With the assistance of local representatives, the necessary number of stalls will be established nationwide to sell TCB products," said the state minister during a programme held to inaugurate TCB activities at Baridhara Park, Dhaka.

Responding to inquiries regarding the availability of all essential commodities at the TCB permanent stalls, he said, "Currently, one crore cardholders receive TCB items at subsidized prices nationwide. We will coordinate with the relevant authorities to ensure the availability of all necessary commodities at the TCB stalls. Decisions will be made following the advice of the prime minister."

When questioned about onion sales, Titu said, "TCB is currently not selling onions as there is no shortage in the supply of this kitchen ingredient to the markets."

Regarding steps taken to reduce inflation, the state minister said, "It is not within our purview to control inflation. There is a separate ministry tasked with addressing this issue. Our responsibility lies in maintaining an uninterrupted supply, which is what we are striving to achieve."
