Workers of Neparel Garments Limited have blocked the road in front of Sainik Club in Banani to protest against the closure of their factory.
The workers took to the streets around 8:30 am on Saturday, causing a gridlock on roads from Mohakhali to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Passengers with train and flight schedules are left worrying about making it to their destinations on time.
Banani Thana’s Officer-in-Charge, Kazi Sahan Haque, said they are trying to convince the workers to leave the road.
Additional police have been deployed to keep the situation under control, he added.
