Twe Bangladesh nationals were shot dead in Buffalo city of New York on Saturday afternoon.
Police officials responded to a call about a shooting just after 12:30pm (local time) on Saturday in the 100 block of Zenner Street, reports The Buffalo News.
Bangladeshi community in Buffalo identified the victims as Babul, 45, and Yusuf, 53.
They said Yusuf moved to Buffalo with his family from Virginia approximately a month ago, while Babul, originally from Cumilla, Bangladesh entered the United States on a tourist visa with his family a few months prior. He served as a construction partner alongside Yusuf.
As per local accounts, Babul was working at Yusuf's residence in Buffalo when an altercation occurred with a young man, who allegedly demanded money from them. Tragically, the confrontation escalated, resulting in the young man shooting them before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving information, law enforcement rushed to the scene and found the due dead.
Buffalo police reported that a suspect was surrounded by a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team, in conjunction with the city's crisis management team. However, police have not confirmed whether the suspected individual is in custody.
The bodies of the victims are currently at ECMC Hospital, and Bangladeshi community members have announced plans for a protest rally in front of Fillmore Jame Masjid on Sunday.
