Bangladesh's Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and Saudi Arabia's Chief Climate Negotiator Khalid M Almehaid discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation on climate change issues in a key meeting at the Petersburg Climate Dialogue in Germany’s Berlin.

“Bangladesh is committed to taking ambitious action against climate change. Collaborations like this are crucial for achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement," Saber Hossain said at the meeting, reads a press release.

He highlighted Bangladesh's progress in renewable energy and climate resilience.

Khalid M Almehaid commended Bangladesh's efforts, saying, "We are impressed by Bangladesh’s leadership in sustainable development and are keen to enhance our cooperation to address the challenges of climate change together."

The meeting underscores a mutual commitment to advancing the global climate agenda and achieving sustainable development. 

The environment minister also received an invitation to participate in COP-29 from Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev — which is scheduled for the last quarter of 2024 in Baku.

Besides, Saber Hossain held bilateral meetings with the delegates of Egypt and Denmark, the President of COP-28 and COP-29 and the German State Secretary.
