At least six workers were killed and several others got injured when a truck plunged into a ditch in Rangamati’s Sajek area.

"The truck lost control and fell into a 100-foot-deep ditch near the ninety-degree area on the Sajek-Udaipur road at around 5:30pm today (24 April)," said Maruf Ahmed, additional superintendent of police in Rangamati.

The injured were rescued and sent to Dighinala Health Complex in Khagrachari with the help of Army and BGB.

Atulal Chakma, chairman of Sajek Union Parishad, said that there were 17 workers on the truck.

The victims were engaged in road construction work along the Udaipur border.

Meanwhile, a police team from Sajek Station is currently at the scene to investigate further, said the police official at the time of filing this report.
