Liverpool is eyeing Feyenoord’s Arne Slot as their potential new manager for the upcoming season, reports The Guardian.

Slot has emerged as a leading contender to succeed Jürgen Klopp in the recruitment process spearheaded by Michael Edwards, Fenway Sports Group's new CEO of football, along with incoming sporting director Richard Hughes.

Rather than conducting direct interviews, Liverpool has been exploring potential candidates through intermediaries, with Slot standing out among the frontrunners.

The 45-year-old Slot has demonstrated consistent success with Feyenoord since taking over from Dick Advocaat in 2021, following a prosperous stint at AZ.

Under his leadership, Feyenoord reached the inaugural Europa Conference League final in his debut season, clinched third place in Eredivisie, secured the league title in the subsequent season, and recently triumphed in the KNVB Cup with a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen.

Slot's achievements, achieved within a relatively modest budget and characterized by an aggressive playing style, have garnered significant attention.

Notably, Tottenham expressed interest last season, and now Liverpool faces potential competition from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Milan for his services this summer. Slot remains under contract with Feyenoord until 2026, having extended his deal last May.

Initially considered a frontrunner for the Liverpool vacancy, Xabi Alonso opted to commit himself to Bayer Leverkusen, subsequently leading the club to their first Bundesliga title. Liverpool is also considering other options, including Sporting’s Rúben Amorim and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi.
