Railway authorities announced the withdrawal of the rebate facility, which has been in effect since 1992, effective from May 4.

Bangladesh Railway has decided to withdraw the rebate on travel for distances exceeding 100 kilometers, consequently increasing the fares of train journeys.

In a circular published in the national daily Jugantor, railway authorities announced the withdrawal of the rebate facility, which has been in effect since 1992, effective from May 4.

Under the rebate facility, passengers traveling between 101km and 150km have been entitled to a 20% discount, while those traveling between 251km and 400km have enjoyed a 25% discount, and those traveling over 401km have received a 30% rebate.

However, fares for distances less than 100km will remain unchanged.
