Police recovered bodies of a man and his son from their residence in Dhaka's Agargaon on Sunday (7 April ).

They were identified as Moshiur Rahman (50) and his son Shahdab (16), a college student, reports Prothom Alo.

Moshiur Rahman’s body was found hanging, while Shahdab was found lying, said Rubayet Ferdous, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in Tejgaon zone.

Police also recovered Moshiur's lone daughter, critically injured, and sent her to the hospital for treatment.

The bodies were brought into police custody and later sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.

“Mashiur Rahman had worked in a housing construction company as an engineer. He had been unemployed for three years. Later, he faced difficulties while doing business, causing turmoil in the family,” said Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Inspector (investigation) Sajib De to media.

Sajib De said, “The tragic incident took place before Iftar. At that time, Moshiur's wife had gone out to teach students. It is initially known that father Moshiur Rahman first attacked his son Shahdab and daughter. Later, he committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope”

"Initially, it is believed that Moshiur Rahman committed suicide after attempting to kill the boy and girl out of frustration. Efforts are being made to fully understand why this incident happened,” said DMP Tejgaon Division Assistant Commissioner (AC) Imran Hossain.
