In light of the new education curriculum, there will be no first and second-term exams from now on till class 3, said Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahmed.
“However, continuous evaluation will continue,” he said in response to the questions of the journalists during a press conference organised at the secretariat on Thursday (21 March).
Since the new curriculum has been introduced this year up to class 3, the journalists asked whether there will be the first and second term or annual exams as before. In response, the secretary said, “First and second-term exams up to class 3 will no longer exist. The method of evaluation will be different. There will be evaluation, but not as traditional as before. There will be continuous evaluation.”
Last year the implementation of the new curriculum at the primary and secondary levels started.
The new curriculum has been implemented for classes 1, 6 and 7.
This January, apart from those three classes, the new curriculum has been introduced in the second, third, eighth and ninth classes.
The new curriculum will be implemented in the 12th class (higher secondary) gradually in 2027.
A large part of the assessment of students in the new curriculum is continuous (academic) in the educational institution.
Previously, government primary schools assessed students with three tests a year.
