The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has expressed concern following the theft of a gold crown, gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jessoreswari Kali Temple in Satkhira, urging the Bangladesh government to investigate and recover the stolen item

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has expressed its concern over the theft of a gold crown, which was gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the idol at the Jessoreswari Kali Temple in Shyamnagar, Satkhira.

In a verified Facebook post on Friday (11 October), the Indian High Commission conveyed its apprehensions regarding the incident.

The post mentioned, "We have come across reports of the gold crown, presented as a gift by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jessoreswari Kali Temple during his visit to Bangladesh in 2021, being stolen. We express our concern over this theft and urge the Bangladesh government to investigate the matter, recover the crown, and take necessary actions against the culprits."

The theft occurred on Thursday (10 October) between 2:47pm and 2:50pm. 

CCTV footage from the temple captured an image of a young man stealing the crown.

The Indian High Commission has called upon the Bangladesh government to investigate the incident promptly and ensure the recovery of the stolen item, as well as the prosecution of those responsible.
