Inspector General Police Chief Moinul Islam assures that there is no security threat during the upcoming Durga Puja, stating that police will maintain maximum vigilance, with no concerns of extremist attacks or disruptions

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mainul Islam has assured that there are no security threats surrounding the upcoming Durga Puja, adding that the police will be on the highest alert to ensure safety during the festivities.

"There is no security threat associated with Durga Puja," he said speaking at an event held at the Tourist Police Headquarters on Thursday (26 September).

He reiterated that Durga Puja has been celebrated in the country for many years and that the police will maintain a firm and vigilant stance throughout.

When asked about the potential risk of militant attacks, IGP Mainul Islam reassured that there are no such concerns.

However, he emphasised that the police will remain on maximum alert, with no compromise on security measures.

the police chief urged the public to immediately report any untoward incidents during the Puja celebrations to the nearest police station.

He also commented on the recent spate of violence during the student-led anti-discrimination movement, revealing that at least 500 police stations across the country experienced attacks, vandalism, and arson.

However, he stated that the damaged vehicles have already been replaced and that police operations are continuing as usual.
