The government is in an uncomfortable situation due to the persisting inflation, Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said.

“Inflation has put us in an uncomfortable situation. At one point it decreases and then increases again,” he said after a courtesy meeting with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Bangladesh Chief of Mission Abdusattor Esoev and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) representatives at the Economic Relations Department on Thursday (22 February).

However, the minister said the situation will improve and urged everyone to be patient.

Regarding the foreign debt, he said, “There is some pressure to pay back. However, we are not under big pressure.”

He also said that IFAD has released $2 billion for the development of fish roes on the Halda River.

“They will continue such aid in the future,” Abul Hassan Mahmood said.

“IOM deals with overseas migrants. They will continue their support in the future,” the minister further added.
