S. Alam Group's green energy project aims to generate 3,000 megawatts of power

S. Alam Group, one of Bangladesh's largest industrial conglomerates, is embarking on an ambitious project in the Green and Renewable Energy sector with the goal of producing 3,000 megawatts of power.

The power plant will be established in Banshkhali, Chattogram, with an expected capacity of 3,000 megawatts. From its inception, the power plant will utilize 50% green energy, gradually increasing to 100% over time.

The investment in the project is approximately $3 billion and it will be implemented by 2027.

Once completed, this project will create direct employment opportunities for about five thousand people. Besides, one lakh people will be employed indirectly there.

Eco-friendly technologies from leading companies such as GE, Siemens, and Mitsubishi will be employed in the green and renewable energy initiative. Due to the project's unique nature, the country will reap the benefits of carbon tax incentives in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

Besides, S. Alam Group has successfully developed the nation's first large-scale private coal-based thermal power project, boasting a substantial capacity of 1320 megawatts, in Banshkhali of Chattogram.

S. Alam Group has been humbly op-erating for more than 37 years since 1985. Throughout its long journey, the entity has been involved in in-dustrial and infrastructural pro-jects spanning the daily necessary commodities, power sector, import and refining, the establishment of economic zones, health, textiles, IT, and other businesses, investing thousands of crore of taka.

Due to the initiatives in development, more than 200,000 individuals have secured direct employment, ultimately contributing to the growth of the country's economy.
