The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has called on Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali to ensure a smooth supply chain to keep commodity prices stable during Ramadan.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam made this appeal during a courtesy call on Monday.
The president of Bangladesh's apex trade organization requested the finance minister to take necessary initiatives to prevent disruptions in the import and supply chain of daily commodities due to a dollar crisis.
Mahbubul Alam also urged the implementation of measures so that medium and small enterprises can open letters of credit (LC) alongside other large industries and purchase dollars at the rate fixed by the Bangladesh Bank.
Highlighting the need to further improve the mutual cooperation relationship between the private sector and the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the FBCCI president expressed the organization's desire to work closely with various government departments and organizations, including the National Board of Revenue.
The FBCCI president also commented that, in addition to expanding business, trade, and industry in the country, it is possible to significantly increase government revenue collection through the simplification of tax management, establishment of transparency and accountability, and automation.
