The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has decided to sell beef at Tk600/kg and mutton at Tk900/kg during the month of Ramadan.
People can buy the meat at reasonable prices from 23 spots in the capital starting from 10 March until the day before Eid, said Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdur Rahman at the DC conference being held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital today.
In addition to beef and mutton, the ministry will also sell broiler chickens at Tk280/kg and eggs at Tk10.50 each, the minister added.
If the capacity can be enhanced, the selling programme will be expanded nationwide, said the minister.
He also urged the deputy commissioners to help keep the prices of daily essentials in check.
Addressing the traders and businessmen, the minister said, “Do not make people suffer by capitalising on the month of Ramadan. There is space to work on maintaining morality to control the market.”
