Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed government institutions not to hold official iftar parties during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
The Prime Minister issued this directive during an unscheduled discussion at the Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office today (28 February).
Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain briefed the media about the decision of the meeting and the Prime Minister's instructions during a press conference at the Secretariat.
In response to questions from journalists, the Cabinet Secretary said large-scale iftar arrangements have been discouraged, even in private institutions.
He further mentioned that if someone wishes to organise such events, they should consider buying food and distributing it among the poor.
