Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun issued a stern warning regarding the involvement of police personnel in drug-related activities.

"More stringent measures are taken compared to ordinary individuals regarding involvement in drugs. Ordinary citizens face legal repercussions for mere association with drugs. However, evidence of drug use among police officers will result in job termination and legal action," said the IGP during Police Week-2024 at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Wednesday (28 February).

“We recruit every member through a dope test. I warn those who are addicted to drugs: No one will get a job if they are addicted,” he stated.

“Drugs and corruption are silent killers of society. The Bangladesh police will triumph in the anti-narcotics operation. Just as we have brought terrorism under control, we must also succeed in drug control. I urge everyone to come forward in this regard. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy against militancy, drugs, and corruption. We bring criminals under the law as soon as possible,” added the IGP.
