Voting ends with low voter turnout

The voting for the 12th National Parliamentary Election came to an end amid a low voter turnout.

As of 3pm, the voter turnout stands at 27.15%, as announced by EC Secretary Jahangir Alam during a media briefing at the EC secretariat.

Breaking down the figures by division, the voter turnout is 25% in Dhaka, 27% in Chattogram, 22% in Sylhet, 31% in Barisal, 32% in Khulna, 26% in Rajshahi, 29% in Mymensingh, 26% in Rangpur, with an average of 27.15% nationwide, according to the EC Secretary.

EC also reported irregularities and chaos at 30 to 35 locations.

So far polling was canceled in seven centers due to irregularities, added the EC secretary.
