The High Court has given its verdict disposing of the case against Pori Moni, considering her petition seeking the cancellation of the case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
A bench of the High Court comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam delivered the judgment on Thursday (22 February).
As a result of this verdict, the proceedings of the case will continue in the judicial court, said Assistant Attorney General Salim Azad.
The Rapid Action Battalion raided Pori Moni’s residence in Banani, Dhaka, on 4 August 2021. During the raid, the law enforcement members reportedly seized a significant quantity of foreign-branded expensive liquor, liquor bottles, and other drugs from the premises, leading to the actress's arrest. She was later released on bail.
On 4 October of the same year, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police filed a charge sheet against three individuals, including Pori Moni.
The judicial court then ordered on 5 January 2022 to proceed with charges against them in the case.
Subsequently, Pori Moni appealed to the High Court to dismiss the case, which has now been granted.
