There is no investigation ongoing against Chattogram-based conglomerate S Alam Group, said the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).
"We have told the journalists that our activities are going on as per the instructions given to us. This is not properly presented in the media. We have not said anything that there is or will be an investigation against S Alam Group. If we had done any investigation, we would have written to the banks. I used to get information from the banks. But no such letter has been given anywhere from our side,” said Md Masud Biswas, head of BFIU, said while speaking to media recently.
In response to a question, Masud Biswas said, "We have not found anything negative against the chairman of S Alam Group or his family. Some people are trying to cause confusion by using journalists. They are spreading the news with wrong and misleading information. But the matter is nothing like that. We have said that everything will be done according to the court's instructions.”
Responding to another question, he said, "We have contacted the concerned media, informed them about the wrong news they have published and also informed the Bangladesh Bank spokesperson about the matter."
Recently some online news portals published reports claiming there is an investigation going on S Alam Group quoting the BFIU chief, Masud Biswas termed them as baseless.
