A time bomb was found on a bus traveling from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj on Friday night (5 January).
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Police bomb disposal unit arrived at the scene from Dhaka and successfully defused the bomb, according to Abu Bakkar Siddique, Officer in charge of Siddhirganj police station.
"On Friday night (5 January), a Bengal Paribahan sleeper bus departed from Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar. During a routine seat check, the bus supervisor noticed an object resembling a 'bomb' in an empty seat. He promptly alerted the bus driver and informed the police. After inspecting the scene, the police notified the bomb disposal unit in Dhaka," said the OC.
"It was indeed a time bomb. If it had detonated, the bus could have caught fire, posing a serious risk of collapse," added Abu Bakkar Siddique.
