A Dhaka court has deferred the hearing on charge framing of 11 cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to 24 April.
Acting Judge Faisal Atiq Bin Kader of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court adjourned the hearing and set the new date following petitions submitted by the defence, said Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal.
Khaleda was allowed to live at her residence by an executive order from the government. She is ailing and taking treatment at her Gulshan residence.
Ten of the 11 cases were filed in connection with arson attacks, while the rest one was filed with a Dhaka court on charge of making seditious comments on freedom fighters and martyrs of the Liberation War.
The BNP chairperson is also sued in three other cases - Gatco, Niko and Boropukuria coal mine and the cases are now pending with three other special courts in Dhaka.
Two more cases are pending with the Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
