Three students riding motorcycles were killed in separate road accidents after being hit by trucks in Bogura.

The accidents occurred in the Sonatala area and the second bypass road of Bogura on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Shahana Akter (18), a second-year HSC student at Government Nazir Akhter College, Sifat Islam (15), and Mohanur Rahman (15), students of a local school in Gabtali Upazila.

"Shahana Akhtar was en route to college with her elder brother on a motorcycle around 10 am when suddenly, a sand-laden truck ran over them near Panchkudi Bridge, tragically leaving Shahana dead on the spot,” said Imran Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sonatala Police Station.

Local residents attempted to intercept the truck, but both the driver and the helper managed to escape, he added.

"Two cousins, Mohanur Rahman and Sifat Islam, were returning to the city from Gabtali on a motorcycle when two trucks, overtaking each other on the highway in the Baria area, collided with their motorcycle, leading to their immediate demise,” said Tariqul Islam, Inspector of Naruli police outpost.
