At least 106 members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) have fled across the border and sought refuge in Bangladesh amid clashes between the army and the country's rebels.
The security force members are currently at a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) outpost in Turmbru, Bandarban.
Shariful Islam, public relations officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said 106 BGP members have so far entered Bangladesh through Tumbru border in Naikhangchhari upazila of Bandarban district with arms and ammunition due to the ongoing clashes inside Myanmar.
The security force members were disarmed, and their arms and ammunition were confiscated, he said.
The injured BGP personnel are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Cox's Bazar district.
On Saturday, the first group of 14 BGP personnel sought refuge in Bangladesh after facing an attack by rebel forces. Later another group 25 members reported to took refuge on that day.
In Myanmar, the military junta has lost more bases and experienced the deaths of 62 troops over the past three days as rebel factions, including the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and ethnic armed organizations (EAOs), intensified their attacks on regime targets nationwide.
Reports of incidents have emerged from Sagaing, Magwe, and Mandalay regions, as well as Kachin and Karen states, The Irrawaddy reports citing PDFs and EAOs.

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education issued a circular today instructing five government primary schools in the Ghumdhum-Tumbru border area of Naikkhangchhari upazila to remain closed until further notice.
However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the armed forces and paramilitary border guards of Bangladesh to have patience regarding the recent war-like situation in Myanmar between their government forces and insurgents.
