The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has asked its officials and employees to use environment-friendly glasses instead of drinking water from plastic bottles.

A gazette notification, signed by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Secretary (Joint Secretary) Mohammad Masud Alam Siddique, was issued in this regard on Sunday.

In view of the above, it is being informed that at present, officers and employees of all offices of Dhaka North City Corporation, including Nagar Bhaban, are drinking water from plastic bottles in most cases, which is hazardous to health and environment. The microplastics contained in it can mix with the human body and cause various diseases.

Under this circumstance, all councillors, department heads, regional executive officers and officials and employees of Dhaka North City Corporation have been requested to use glasses instead of plastic bottles for drinking water.

It is to be noted that the DNCC Environment, Climate and Disaster Management Circle has been requested to issue instructions containing necessary information regarding glasses for drinking water.
