The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has been formed with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the chairman and Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali as the alternative chairman.
The Ministry Division issued a gazette regarding this on Monday, January 22.
The mandate of the 15-member committee is to consider and approve Development Project Proposals (DPP) for all investment projects, including the recommendations of the Project Evaluation Committee (PEC) meeting for projects involving a total investment cost above 50 crore taka in the public sector.
The committee will also review the progress of the implementation of development projects, consider proposals from private enterprises, joint ventures, or participatory investment companies, monitor the country's economic situation, review overall economic activities and related policy-making issues, and consider and approve annual foreign aid targets while reviewing progress towards achieving these targets.
