Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury conducted an early morning inspection of four police stations in the capital on Thursday (27 February), ordering law enforcement personnel to maintain heightened vigilance and suspending two officers for negligence.

During his visit to Mirpur, Darus Salam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur police stations, the adviser observed that law enforcement officers displayed laxity in the early hours, which, he noted, created an opportunity for criminal elements to operate.

Addressing journalists, he emphasised that the police must remain alert at all times to ensure public safety.

“In Gulshan, an inspector and a constable have been suspended due to negligence in duty,” he stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

To bolster security, the adviser announced an increase in the number of personnel on duty and additional patrols.

He also disclosed that ministry officials had been assigned to oversee the law enforcement efforts alongside police forces.

When questioned about the duration of the ongoing joint security operations, he remarked that they would continue until the situation improved, though other routine security measures would remain in place.

The adviser commenced his inspection from his residence in Baridhara DOHS, travelling through ECB Square, Kalshi, Pallabi, and Mirpur-10 before arriving at Mirpur Police Station.

He then proceeded to Darus Salam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur police stations before concluding his tour via Dhanmondi 27, the National Parliament area, Bijoy Sarani, Mohakhali, and Banani.

At each station, he visited key facilities, including the reception area and holding cells, and engaged with duty officers and law enforcement personnel.

He issued directives for increased vigilance and operational efficiency.

Additionally, he inspected checkposts at Zillur Rahman Flyover and Kalshi Intersection, instructing officers to remain proactive.

The adviser also interacted with members of the public at Mirpur Thana Mor and Technical Intersection to gauge their perception of the security situation. Residents expressed overall satisfaction with the prevailing law and order conditions.
