Russia has expressed interest in becoming a development partner for Bangladesh's aviation industry.
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Mantytskiy conveyed Russia's interest during a meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan at the Secretariat today (14 March).
“We want to establish a partnership with Bangladesh's burgeoning aviation industry. Russia is interested in providing various forms of assistance, including technical support,” said the Russian ambassador.
Additionally, the ambassador expressed interest in initiating direct flights between Dhaka and Moscow to facilitate travel for tourists from both countries. He remarked, “Every year, a significant number of Russian tourists visit various countries worldwide. With the launch of direct flights, Russian tourists, who currently visit neighboring countries, will show interest in visiting Bangladesh.”
The ambassador emphasized that an increase in the number of Russian tourists in Bangladesh would contribute to the development of the country's tourism industry and strengthen the friendship between the two nations.
In response, Aviation Minister Faruk stated, “Russia is a loyal friend of Bangladesh. We warmly welcome the desire of a friendly country like Russia to become a development partner in Bangladesh's aviation industry and their interest in launching Dhaka-Moscow direct flights.”
The minister highlighted that the decision would be made following discussions between the relevant authorities of both countries, in accordance with international norms. He assured that if Russia invests in Bangladesh's tourism industry, they will be provided with all necessary facilities.
Furthermore, Faruk reiterated that Bangladesh is prepared to welcome Russian tourists to the country.
