The Bangladesh Railway has announced that the sale of advance train tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr will begin on 24 March.
Railways Minister Zillul Hakim made the announcement after an inter-ministerial meeting at the Railway Bhaban on Wednesday (13 March).
He said tickets for travel on 3 April will be sold on 24 March. Additionally, tickets for journeys on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 April will be released on 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 March respectively.
Like previous years, tickets for all seats will be exclusively available for purchase online.
The online tickets will be available for residents of the western region starting at 8am, while those residing in the eastern regions can purchase their tickets from 2pm onwards.
The sale of return tickets will commence on 3 April with the availability of tickets for journey on 13 April. Subsequently, tickets for 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 April will become available on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 April respectively.
In celebration of Eid, eight pairs of special trains will be in operation. Two pairs of these trains will operate solely on Eid days, while the remaining five pairs will run both before and after Eid.
Muslims in Bangladesh commenced their fasting on 12 March. Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival for Muslims, follows a month of fasting.
