Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Md Khandkar Mushfiqur Rahman visited several markets in order to monitor the prices of daily necessities.
The district administration said that he visited several markets of the city of Cumilla on Tuesday (March 12) evening. During his visits, he talked to the consumers and businessmen.
It is said that this campaign was conducted in view of various complaints of excessive increase in the prices of retail products and kitchen items on the occasion of Ramadan.
Adarsh Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehdi Hasan and National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Comilla Assistant Director Md. Asadul Islam accompanied the deputy commissioner.
Meanwhile, a shopkeeper was fined Tk 10,000 for selling cucumbers at a higher price.
