The National Citizens' Committee said there was no discussion or decision on the name of the upcoming political party led by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
A statement signed by the committee's spokesperson Samantha Sharmin was issued on Saturday (21 December).
According to the statement, "It has come to our attention that various media outlets and social media reported that the new political party led by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and initiated by the National Citizens' Committee is called 'Janashakti'. This has created confusion among the public."
"We would like to confirm that no such name or decision was discussed among us. All concerned are urged not to be confused," adds the statement.
