At least three persons, including two women, died in three separate road accidents in Dhaka today (10 March).
One of them was identified as day laborer Al Amin, 29, but police could not identify, so far, two other victims who are women.
The three separate incidents took place in front of Mirpur Sony Cinema Hall, in front of Gulishtan Underground Market under Paltan police station, and in front of Kasaibari Railgate in the city’s Dakshin Khan area in the morning.
Police and family sources said day laborer Al-Amin was critically injured when a speedy bus hit him while he was crossing the Mirpur Zoo Road, in front of Sony Cinema Hall at 8:30 am.
Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), and the duty doctor declared him dead.
An unidentified 58-year-old woman was critically injured as a speedy bus of ‘Asian’ Paribahan struck her when she was crossing the road in front of Gulishtan Underground Market around 9:30 am.
Local people rescued and sent her to DMCH, but the duty doctor declared her dead.
Meanwhile, a battery-run auto-rickshaw hit a 40-year-old unidentified woman at the city's Dakshin Khan Kasaibari area at around 7:30 am today. She was taken to DMCH in a critical state, and the duty doctor declared her dead.
“The dead bodies of the women remain at the morgue of the emergency department of the hospital,” said DMCH’s police camp in-charge M Bacchu Mia.
