A fire broke out at the 250-Bed General Hospital in Joypurhat due to an electrical short circuit.
"The fire ignited in my room on the second floor of the hospital at around 1:10pm on Friday (8 March)," said hospital supervisor Dr Sardar Rashed Mubarak.
He said the fire caused significant flames, leading to a panicked evacuation by patients.
Upon receiving the news, two units of Joypurhat Fire Service swiftly responded, bringing the fire under control within 35 minutes, said Deputy Assistant Director of Joypurhat Fire Service and Civil Defense Shariful Islam.
Following the incident, Joypurhat Superintendent of Police Mohammad Noore Alam visited the hospital and confirmed that there were no injuries or extensive damages reported.
