The Postogola Bridge on the Buriganga River has been opened to traffic from 6:00am today (9 March) as its repair works has been completed.
The Department of Roads and Highways told the media in this regard on Friday (8 March).
RHD started repair works on the bridge on February 22 and completed it on 8 March, said sources at Roads and Highways Department.
Heavy vehicles - like buses, trucks, pickup vans, covered vans, and lorries - are instructed to use alternative routes at this time.
On 29 June, 2020, the rescue ship Pratyay came to salvage the launch Morning Bird, which sank after being hit by the Mayur-2 launch in the Sadarghat area of the Buriganga River. The ship hit the bridge and got stuck while crossing the Postogola Bridge. It damaged the deck and beams below the bridge. Since then, vehicles have been allowed to ply on the bridge after several repair works.
