Former secretary of the Election Commission and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Md Jahangir Alam, has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB).
He was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area, said DMP Media Division Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman on Tuesday (1 October).
Police said they have identified him as the mastermind behind the dummy elections.
