Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the last 24 hours till this morning (30 September), raising the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 163 this year.
During the same period, 1,152 more patients were hospitalised with dengue, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In terms of hospitalizations, 252 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation, while 187 were treated in hospitals under Dhaka South City Corporation. Currently, 3,462 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.
So far in 2024, a total of 30,938 dengue cases have been reported. In comparison, Bangladesh recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 1,705 deaths in 2023.
