Job seekers demanding the age limit for public service applications be set at 35 have staged a sit-in in front of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's residence, State Guesthouse Jamuna.

The incident occurred at around 1:30pm on Minto Road in the capital on Monday (30 September).

They took position in front of the residence, but were soon met with a strong response from the police.

During the demonstration, law enforcement personnel deployed five rounds of tear gas and two sound grenades to disperse the protesters.

A significant number of police and military personnel were stationed around the protesting students to maintain order.

The protesters have declared they will not leave their position until a formal notice is issued raising the age limit for entry into government jobs to 35.

They also warned that the protest would not end unless the demand is met by the end of the day.

In the course of the law enforcement intervention, it has been reported that two protesters were injured due to the tear gas and sound grenades fired at them by the security forces.
