The interim government has removed all councillors from the 12 City Corporations across the country.
Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday (26 September).
According to the notification, the councillors were dismissed from their positions under Section 13(a) of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024.
Earlier, the interim government had also removed all mayors of City Corporations, chairmen of Upazila Parishads, and mayors of municipalities across the country.
