Despite intermittent rain throughout the night, Dhaka experienced torrential downpours starting early in the morning. This has eased the impact of the recent heatwave that had gripped the city for several days.
However, the heavy rainfall over the past few hours has caused considerable inconvenience, particularly for office-bound commuters and students heading to school and college.
On Thursday (26 September), the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a forecast predicting that storms accompanied by rain or thunderstorms could affect 17 districts, with wind speeds reaching 45-60 km/h.
The forecast, valid until 1pm, also warned of potential weather hazards for internal river ports across the country.
According to the forecast, regions including Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Kushtia, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet may experience gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45-60 km/h, accompanied by temporary showers or thunderstorms.
