The Election Commission (EC) has revoked four national identity cards belonging to Haris Ahmed and Tofail Ahmed, alias Joseph, brothers of former chief of army, Gen (Retd) Aziz Ahmed, after discovering they were issued based on false information.

"Four identity cards had been issued under the influence of the former army chief, General Aziz, for his two brothers, Haris and Joseph. Investigations have uncovered that fraudulent information was provided in the process of issuing these cards. As a result, all four national identity cards have now been annulled," EC's National Identity Registration Division Secretary Md Mahbub Alam Talukder on Tuesday (24 September).

Consequently, both brothers will no longer be eligible for any services related to national identity cards, as confirmed by the Election Commission.
