Ex-justice Manik released on bail in Sylhet, faces detention due to pending cases

A court in Sylhet has granted bail to former justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, who was arrested while attempting to illegally flee to India, but he has been ordered to remain in custody due to other outstanding cases against him

Former justice of the Appellate Division, AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, who was apprehended while attempting to illegally cross into India via the border, has been granted bail by a Sylhet court.

The decision was made on the morning of Tuesday (17 September) by Anjan Kanti Das, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sylhet, said Sylhet Court Inspector Jamsed Alam.

However, despite the bail being granted, Manik has been directed to remain in custody due to ongoing legal cases against him in other locations across the country.
