A Dhaka court has granted 7-day remands for journalists Mozammel Babu and Shyamol Dutta, as well as Shahriar Kabir, the former president of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, in connection with separate murder cases.
The three individuals were brought before the court, where separate applications were filed requesting ten-day remands for each on Tuesday (17 September).
Following the hearing, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shana Ullah approved 7-day remands for each of the accused.
The remand orders pertain to two murder cases filed in the capital. Shyamol Dutta faces allegations related to the killing of youth Fazlul in Vashanchar, with the remand request for this case submitted by Sub-Inspector Md Shahidul Biswas of Vashanchar Police Station.
Meanwhile, Mozammel Babu and Shahriar Kabir are implicated in the murder of domestic worker Liza, with the remand request for this case filed by Police Inspector Md Payel Hossain of Ramna Model Police Station.
Following their arrest, the accused were presented in court earlier on Tuesday.
Prior to this, on Monday morning, Shyamol Dutta and Mozammel Babu were apprehended in Mymensingh and subsequently handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police.
The accused were presented at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka on Tuesday morning (17 September).
