The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk3,581 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk1,29,902.
This price of gold is the highest in the history of the country.
This change will be effective from Sunday (15 September), BAJUS announced in a press release issued on Saturday (14 September) evening.
According to the new rates, 21-carat gold is now Tk1,24,000 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk1,06,282 per bhori, and traditional method gold is Tk87,013 per bhori.
The adjustment is due to an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market, BAJUS said.
